With the Diabetic Limb Salvage conference fast upon us (starting Thursday night Australian time), it is a good time to answer some of the questions we have been receiving about our latest Portal Live event.

Q: Can you tell me more about how the Portal Live conference interactive features work?

A: Sure. When you are attending the Portal Live conference, you will have 2 windows open on your computer. One of them will be streaming live video of the conference presenter, the second window is an interaction panel which broadcasts the power point slides and audio.

On the interaction panel is a button that allows you to raise your "virtual hand", notifying our staff at the conference that you wish to ask a question or make a comment. At the appropriate time, staff will ask the question on your behalf to the presenter that you have typed in, or even allow you to ask the question yourself if you have a microphone. The sound comes over the conference audio system, so it really is like you're in the same room. This is a strange experience initially, to speak to the expert on the computer screen and then have them talk back to you, but you will get used to it!

At all times during the Portal Live Event, staff are available to guide you through any difficulties you may experience. Portal staff have continuous monitoring of email address education@portaleduction.com.au so make sure you email if you are having any issues.

Q: How many Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points will I earn for attending the Diabetic Limb Salvage conference through Portal Live?

A: You will earn exactly the same amount of CPE points for attending the Diabetic Limb Salvage conference through Portal Live, as if you were going to the conference in person. The exact number of points depends on your professional registration body. You will receive a certificate of attendance with CPE information just as you would if you attended the conference live.

Q: I am slightly worried that I don't have sufficient technical know-how to be able to use Portal. What happens if I purchase a conference package and computer/internet problems prevent me from attending?

A: We have designed Portal so that it is usable by people of all levels of computer literacy, but we understand that technical issues can be a concern.

Q: What time does the conference start in my local time?

A: This depends on where you are, since Portal Live means you could be anywhere! By selecting your local timezone on the Portal Education site here, you can easily translate the Washington DC start times to your local one.

For Australian Portal Live attendees, here are the conference times in Sydney local standard for your reference.

Friday 25h September 8.30pm – Saturday 26th September 8am

Q: What happens if I miss part or all of the conference, or I would like to review some of the material?
